Diamonds beat most other investments in 2011

The diamond price performance comes from an index of 25 top quality 1 carat diamonds of color D through H and a clarity of Internally Flawless (IF) to Very Small Inclusion (VS2).

These highly sought after diamonds are exactly the type of investment grade diamonds that carry strong liquidity and are ideal for asset diversification, inflation hedging and speculation. Last year's positive performance is a testament to the value that can be earned by holding investment grade diamond investments.

For 2012, prospects for diamond prices are as strong as ever. Abacroft Investments PLC markets analyst Jessica Riley has gone on record predicting 19% returns for polished diamonds in 2012 and sees positive growth going forward until at least 2015.

Strong growth from India and China is predicted by Abacroft Investments PLC to ensure diamond demand at twice the level of supplies as far ahead as 2020.

Jonathan Kozakiewicz, Chairman of Abacroft Investments PLC, predicts that supply will overshadow demand by a huge 7 million carats into 2016. Kozakiewicz sees diamond prices rising between 10% and 20% for 2012 on weak supply and strong demand.
