On December 13, 2009 Governor Crist signed the Act. This law is in honor of two Orange County firefighters who died in 1989 after the roof of a gift shop collapsed. This new safety rule requires building owners to mark their building with a sign that complies with the law. Compliance with the rule is required on March 13, 2010.
FLORIDA TRUSS SIGNS have been designed to comply with the requirements of Rule: 69A-60.0081 of the Florida Fire Prevention Code. The rule requires that any structure that uses Light-frame Truss-type Construction be marked with an approved symbol. The entire Truss Sign is made of Engineer Grade Prismatic material. This material is the same as used on street signs. Two options available are: vinyl peel and stick or .040 aluminum with radius corners and 4 mounting holes. Signs measure 9” x 9” with the compliant Maltese symbol (8” x 8”).
