"Diary of a Canadian Fashion Model in Chechnya" Hits the Stands in 2010

Toronto-born Callahan has been in the public eye for years - first as one of the world's most beautiful women among the faces of Vogue magazine, and, more recently, as a television presenter on Chechnya’s state-run “Grozny TV” after an invitation from Minister of Press and Information Shamsail Saraliev. Chrystal first traveled to the Chechen Republic in 2007, while was filming the documentary "Greco-Roman Grozny". During her stay, an informal encounter with Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov over ice cream and coffee laid the foundation for an incredible opportunity.

"Diary of a Fashion Model in Chechnya" is a collection of dramatic fashion photos and candid pictures set against the intense backdrop of the North Caucasus and blended with her personal journal entries - some thought-provoking, some fun, others full of the confusion and culture shock that go hand in hand with crossing cultural borders. All are designed to offer an insider's look at Grozny and the life of an “It girl” who is bringing Chechnya into the limelight for the world’s fashion fans - and there are a lot of them. Callahan receives hundreds of emails per week from fans around the globe and fashion magazines requesting photo shoots and interviews. “It’s difficult to handle all the press at the moment because I am so busy with my show," she says.

"[I want] this book [to] become 'the book' to have on a coffee table and own in 2010 ," laughs Callahan, who is thoroughly enjoying the opportunity to put the artistic experience she gained as a producer to use in "Diary of a Fashion Model." "[It's going to be] a trendy, cult classic", she says with a wink.
