Dis-allusioned Green Loan Assessors form alliance in Geelong
A number of assessors from the Governments failed Green Loan scheme have got together to provide small businesss energy reports
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) February 23, 2011 --
Local Green loan assessors have been left high and dry by the government.
As of the end of February the Governments Green Loan home assessment scheme comes to an end.
Although the Government is talking about some forms of compensation and subsidies for further
training, local assessors have basically been left without a career.
In recent times assessors who have been trained to meet Government standards through the nearly
defunk Green Loan scheme have been looking to use their training in some sort of practical way.
A growing number of local assessors have been meeting and discussing the future for energy
assessment.
As a result one new organisation to be established is Geelong Carbon Footprint Audits, which is an
umbrella for a number of local assessors providing reasonably priced assessments for small
business and community groups.
Often there are lots of practical means of reducing energy costs, just by thinking green and adopting
good habits, with energy costs on the up, all good small business managers should be
embracing this area of expense.
Sustainability, Green House Gas Emissions, Carbon Footprint measurement are all becoming very
familiar phrases with government and big business.
Many larger corporations are turning to energy assessments to measure their carbon footprint –
greenhouse gas emissions.
Sometimes because they perceive future legislation may require them to do so, sometimes to
exhibit their Green conscience, sometimes because their customers demand it, sometimes to save
money.
This is OK for large corporations with deep pockets.
This facility has not always been available to smaller businesses and community organisations at a
reasonable cost.
.
The first challenge for Geelong Carbon Footprint Audits is to get the message that this facility is available, out to the public at large.
One of the simple, yet energy efficient advertising mediums the group have come up with is an
advertising bike.
You may have seen the advertising bike at key locations around Geelong.
In the spirit of a low energy output for good result the advertising bike introduces the public and
potential customers to the group's website.
Often small businesses have customers like local councils calling on them to provide green
credentials or as efficient business managers they may be purely just interested in watching costs.
A low cost energy audit and the subsequent savings might be their solution.
