The MedSaver programme targets schedule 1 and 2 drugs that comprise self medication for colds and flu, coughs, pain, allergies, throat infections, muscular pain, cramps and spasms and certain skin conditions.
The cash back reward system applies to medications purchased at Clicks pharmacies or Vitality Wellness network providers countrywide.
Primary members are invited to activate the MedSaver benefit online at the official website or via the Discovery Health call centre. Once activated, the MedSaver option generates mandatory cash backs of 10%.
To qualify for a cash back boost of up to 25%, all dependent members of 18 years and older have to complete a Vitality Check, covered by the Screening and Prevention Benefit, at Clicks or network pharmacies
Cash backs apply to purchases up to R1500 and are deposited into the members' bank account. If the cash back amount is under R50 it will be carried over to the next purchase.
The MedSaver Benefit is yet another innovative cost savings measure implemented by the largest medical aid scheme in South Africa.
It complements the HealthyCare Benefit that is aimed at Vitality members only and rewards members for buying preventative health care products under the HealthyCare brand at Clicks.
All Discovery Health members are eligible for Vitality check-ups that are valid for 12 months and test and assess weight, cholesterol, blood pressure and glucose.
