“Toby is a special dog. He’s a 9 year old Chesepeake Bay Retriever, and formerly from Sherwood Park, AB Canada. We now live three hours away in Plamondon but still makes the 3 hour drive to volunteer at Alberta Hospital Edmonton (with the Chimo Pet Assisted Therapy Project) where he has been making a PAWsitive difference in the lives of many says Charmaine Hammond, his owner, and author of Toby’s bestselling book On Toby’s Terms (Bettie Youngs Books, Sept 2010). Toby’s a pet assisted therapy dog, and we have seen firsthand the impact a dog can have on the lives of people with mental illness. "He is definitely a dog on a mission to leave pawprints on hearts everywhere.” Hammond wrote On Toby’s Terms to share Toby’s story. Toby won the Chimo Reese Award for his volunteer efforts and has just released a new book for children, Toby The Pet Therapy Dog and His Hospital Friends (Bettie Youngs Books, Aug. 2011), the first in a series. On Toby’s Terms is being turned into a motion picture with Impact Motion Pictures!

In celebration of International Assistance Dog Week, Toby will be donating some of his books to a local hospital.
