Dough Boy's supports Virginia Beach longboarders

"Don't hate longboarders." "Longboarders have rights, too." These were a few of the many hand-held signs at a well-attended, spirited demonstration on 22nd Street and Atlantic Avenue in Virginia Beach on July 2nd. Longboarders have felt discriminated against by local authorities because restrictions prohibit their use on bike paths at the resort. Longboards differ from shorter skateboards in that they are generally not used for tricks, but rather as a means of transportation. Local restaurateur, George Kotarides, Jr., lended his support to Virginia Beach longboarders by displaying on the marquis at his 24th Street Dough Boy's location, "WE SUPPORT VIRGINIA BEACH LONGBOARDERS! JULY 2 AT 22ND STREET." Kotarides also attended the demonstration, signed the petition, and bought a t-shirt. Several Dough Boy's staff also signed the petition. Virginia Beach police and city council are considering new laws which would allow longboarders to roll up and down the boardwalk and adjacent pathways. www.doughboyspizza.com
