Join thousands of patriots hosted by the U.S. National Park Service at Ft. McHenry for Defenders' Day, 9/11/10. Douglas Jimerson will sing our first national anthem and many songs of the War of 1812.

Admission is free to this remarkable celebration of the Maryland state holiday, Defenders' Day, commemorating the 1814 Battle of Baltimore and the writing of the Star Spangled Banner by Francis Scott Key. War of 1812 reenactors will take the field, the replica of the original Star Spangled Banner will be raised, the Governor of Maryland, Martin O'Malley, will speak, tenor Douglas Jimerson will sing a program of period music, accompanied by Ellen Andersson and Bob Clayton, ships will sail in Baltimore Harbor, cannons will be fired, the U.S. Naval Academy Band will play, and fireworks will cap off the evening. Jimerson says, "It's my favorite patriotic event of the year." If you live in Maryland, you should not miss this celebration!
