Dream Town Releases New Online Interactive Map Search for Chicago Real Estate

The new property search tool has four separate functions that use revolutionary technology. It rolled out with the launch of Dream Town's 4th generation website earlier this month at www.DreamTown.com.

Dream Town's Interactive Map Search allows consumers to search over 148,000 current Chicago real estate listings. It enables house hunters to specify in which part of Chicago they want to look for homes by indicating a search area on an interactive city map powered by Google. There are four different ways to select a search area. The first three involve "drawing" a search area on the map and the fourth utilizes a clickable neighborhood map. A video tutorial illustrates how to use each search function and retrieve the most precise results.

The default Interactive Map Search is the "Rubber Band", which frames the desired search area with two clicks of the mouse. It creates a rectangle in which to search MLS listings that meet the user's indicated price range and property preferences. For a more custom search zone, users can click exact points on the map to outline the search area with the "Draw Search Area" option. The "Radius Search" instructs users to enter a specific address or cross-streets as the central point for a spherical search area. The search area will circle out from the center spot a distance determined by the user (e.g. 0.5 miles from the central point).

Results for all three searches are displayed as house icons on the map. Addresses, location, price, market time and other details are listed below the map. Users can click on the icons to view photos, request showings and see more info or select the listings below to get full property details.

DreamTown.com's final map search allows consumers to indicate which areas to include in their home search by clicking neighborhoods on a Chicago map. Home buyers first select a region of the city to view in more detail – Northwest, North/Central, Near South, Southwest and Southeast – and then click individual neighborhoods. Users are then prompted to indicate other preferences, such as price, number of beds and baths and property type. Search results are displayed after the user registers or signs in.
