DrEd.com Launches Free Photo Assessment Service Online for STIs

(Free-Press-Release.com) February 21, 2012 -- Following Valentine’s Day, DrEd.com has decided to offer free photo consultations online for people who fear they suffer from genital warts, genital herpes or fungal rash. The decision was taken following several reports in February stating that STIs were on the rise again in the UK, including in people over their 50s.

DrEd.com has therefore decided to contribute to the fight against sexually transmitted infections and the impact they have on people’s sex lives.

“Thousands of people worry every month about wart-looking growths on or around their genitals”, says Dr Mordhorst, medical director at DrEd.com, “this can cause great distress, especially because many of them are too embarrassed to consult their GP.”

“All you need to do is to complete a short questionnaire and upload two photos of the area that’s worrying you. The quality of the photos we now receive from mobiles makes this easy to do”, Dr Mordhorst added.

DrEd’s online doctors commit to review the photos and provide patients with feedback within an hour - during working days.

This new service removes the need for face-to-face consultation, and if patients are found to have an STI infection, then treatment can be ordered and dispatched in discreet packaging.

The website also offers STI test kits - delivered at home - for chlamydia, gonorrhoea, mycoplasma, trichomonas and ureaplasma.

DrEd.com offers treatment for the most common sexually transmitted diseases based on guidelines by the National Institute for Clinical Excellence. These include azithromycin, cefixime, aciclovir and valaciclovir as well as warticon and aldara. These medications can treat a variety of STIs such as chlamydia, gonorrhoea, genital herpes and genital warts.
