According to two studies issued by Harvard University, and one by Ionnina University in Greece, indicated that excessive consumption of cola drinks lead to weaker muscles and accelerated aging.
In the first study, which was performed on mice, showed that excessive consumption of phosphoric acid increases the speed of aging in both skin and muscles, in addition to decreased kidney function. Phosphoric acid is found in large quantities in cola drinks, as well as other drinks to enhance the flavor.
Harvard‘s second study focused on human subjects who drank from 2 to 9 liters of cola daily. These subjects were found to have extremely low potassium levels; potassium is necessary for the daily use of muscles. Excessively low potassium levels can cause serious health issues, including death.
In the human studies, it is still not determine why the cola drinks have this negative effect on potassium levels. Other culprits include caffeine, fructose, and lactose.
