FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) October 28, 2009 -- Dubai CAA and Aeronautical Services And Procedures (ASAP) cooperate on new instrument flight procedures

The Dubai Civil Aviation Authority is committed to increasing capacity at Dubai international airport by fully utilising the parallel runway configuration at the airport. In this regard Dubai CAA need to implement efficient independent arrival and departure flight procedures for the two runways as opposed to the present situation where operations on one runway are dependent on the operations on the other runway. Such a situation when implemented will greatly increase capacity and reduce controller workload without compromising Dubai’s exemplary safety record.

A combined team of representatives comprising the most senior instrument flight procedure designers from the Dubai CAA has visited the ASAP offices in Slovakia for two weeks. The team worked closely with the ASAP team to develop instrument flight procedures that will facilitate independent parallel runway operations.

Mr. Whitworth the Managing Director of ASAP said “This shows great forethought on behalf of the Dubai CAA by putting together two experienced instrument procedure design teams from Dubai and ASAP in one room with one goal”

A representative from the Dubai CAA team said “To develop safe instrument procedures in such an obstacle rich environment as the Dubai TMA has been a challenge to the entire combined team. However I am confident of a successful outcome especially with the wealth of experience provided by the ASAP instrument procedure designers”.
