Dubai Judicial Institute organises signing ceremony for special seven-volume “Legal Studies and Legislations” series

Collection to serve as main theoretical & practical reference for legal experts & promote awareness on the role of law in social development

Dubai Judicial Institute (DJI), a leading center of law studies and judicial training in Dubai, has yesterday (Tuesday, January 26, 2010) organised a book signing ceremony for its special “Legal Studies and Legislations.” Comprising six books, the collection complements national efforts to enhance public awareness on the importance of legal studies and legislations and their role in developing a knowledge-based integrated community.

The compendium includes “Company Law (According to the judicial precedents of the Cassation Court in Dubai)” by DJI Director General Judge Dr. Jamal Hussein Alsumaiti which discusses the five topics of the concept of a company, general corporate theory, individual companies, financial companies, and companies of a mixed nature. Another book by Dr. Alsumaiti, “Inspired by Dubai,” includes several articles on Dubai and the UAE addressing various areas such as legislation, the economy, and leadership. A volume prepared by DJI’s Research and Studies department entitled ‘Display of Property Legislation Systems in Dubai’ was also signed.
Commenting on the event, Dr. Alsumaiti said: “This series is exceptional for its practicality, as we focused on supporting theoretical information with examples and real-life implementation of law enforcement and legal provisions. We presented the materials in a unique and clear manner to enable readers to easily comprehend each topic. Moreover, this series was developed in accordance with the principles of scientific research to make it a tool for achieving development and growth in various fields.”

“By providing updates on the latest legal and judicial developments, we are able to prepare both trainees within the judicial system and the public prosecution in a manner which meets world-class standards while spreading law-related education throughout the community. “The Trends Set by UAE Courts in Labour Cases” by Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Abou Zayed, Professor of Civil Law - DJI, tackles labour issues under categories not covered by labour act provisions. It clearly defines the subordination concept and how it is affected by circumstances surrounding the business relationship. It also explores expatriate labour and supply as well as labourer's conciliation or the giving up of labour rights. “Guardianship (According to UAE’s personal status law enhanced by the judicial precedents of the Cassation Court in Dubai)” by Dr. Muhammad Abdul Rahman Duwaini examines the nature of custody and the related rights, terms and provisions.
Consultant Abdulla Muhammad Ahmed Kulaib’s “The Civilian Prosecutor (Its development and function according to the latest legislation enhanced by the judicial precedents of the Cassation Court in Dubai),” on the other hand, is a four-chapter study on the publi
