The video that has been doing the rounds on the Internet has been obtained from a dashboard camera and the footage shows Travis in conversation with a police officer in front of a Baptist Church in Sanger, Texas in the wee hours of the morning. When asked if he had been drinking, the singer admits it but also points out to the officer that he is not driving. But the officer was not convinced and told the singer, “You’re going to go to jail for public intoxication.” In the video, Travis appeared much bemused; apparently he was not expecting so severe a punishment. Nonetheless, he was brought to jail, charged with a Class C misdemeanor, and released a couple of hours later.

As DUI lawyers peered at the video closely, they discovered that Travis became increasingly disoriented and his speech faltered as the conversation progressed. He had obviously taken one drink too many. Afterwards, Travis issued a statement apologizing for his actions; fans of the singer hope that he is not caught on the wrong side of the law again. The police officer could not leave him there with the keys to his car.
