Up to 90% of abortion-minded women who see an ultrasound choose life: New pro life group committed to providing ultrasound machines to pregnancy crisis centers across the nation
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) February 6, 2010 --
Poughkeepsie, NY – During National Sanctity of Life Week, Project Ultrasound Inc.(http://www.projectultrasound.org), a non-profit organization raising awareness and funds to promote the use of ultrasound machines to help deter abortions, announced efforts to strengthen its commitment to helping women choose life.
“We believe that women should be given the chance to see their unborn child. Studies show that women who see life are more likely to choose life. Approximately 70-90% of women choose life after seeing an ultrasound - an overwhelming percentage,” said Stephen Clark, founder and president of Project Ultrasound Inc. “And the other staggering statistic is that only about 40% of pregnancy crisis centers are equipped with the machines. I couldn’t wrap my mind around the fact that we have found the most effective deterrent to abortion - ultrasound - but money is getting in the way of us showing women the truth about the baby they carry inside. That the baby is indeed a life, not just a ‘fetus’; it has a beating heart, moves, reacts, sleeps and does all the things that we associate with living children,” added Clark.
Clark created Project Ultrasound Inc. in November 2008 after a conversation with a relative prompted him to do some research and discover these statistics. So far, the pro life group has been able to raise funds and attract donors for various projects supporting the cause. Past initiatives include raising $1,600 to help Heartbeat of Fremont, an Ohio-based pregnancy support center, paying for ultrasound training for their medical staff; generating $7,500 for Riverside Life Center, a pregnancy crisis center in Riverside, California; and raising more than $4,000 for the general cause. Project Ultrasound also offers a list of resources to help donors identify ways their company can match their donation when applicable.
