DV Lottery - Nepalese Community Settling in New York

Houston -- Free-Press-Release.com-- Apr 4, 2011 -- The DV lottery has been instrumental in relocating thousands of Nepalese nationals to the US over the last few years. The DV lottery is a US government run program that enables 50,000 people to win green cards every year, and has been running for the previous 10 years. Apparently there are currently 40,000 Nepalese living and working in New York City alone. Due to the recent (and current) political climate in Nepal, more and more Nepalese are uprooting and searching for a life in a new environment.

Statistics show that the amount of Nepalese nationals who won the DV Lottery this year had increased dramatically from 376 in 2001 all the way to 2132 in 2010, proving that there has been an increased awareness and interest in moving to the USA and of the DV Lottery program. The Nepalese community has settled comfortably in Queens, along with many other Asian immigrants, creating a home from home in the multi-cultural borough.

Over the last 20 years, Nepal has gone from being a monarchy run state, which was transformed into a parliamentary system, corrupted by Maoist rebels, then a deadly civil war took place which cost the lives of 12,000,Nepalese, at which point the monarchy regained control. Then a few years ago, Nepal abolished the monarchy and has attempted to form a suitable government and fill the Prime Ministers’ office, but to no avail. The Prime Ministers’ office still remains empty.
