a bi-partisan advocacy group announced today that it will support Bill Thompson for Mayor of New York City. "Bloomberg has done an incredible job as Mayor, but it is time for Change in New York. We need new ideas and Thompson has brought new ideas and a Change agenda to the table", END President Kathryn Jordan said. END is urging young voters to get out and VOTE on Tuesday November 3rd. The election is predicted to be tighter than originally believed despite Bloomberg's extravagant million dollar a day campaign, with Bloomberg's lead narrowing to 9 to 15 points in various polls. Those numbers are expected to tighten on Monday. A high turn out of young committed voters or Seniors, or African Americans, could make a huge difference. Many observers of the election have noted the backlash against Bloomberg's "term limits" manipulation. "He crossed the line", END asserted. "He is acting despotic. At a time when most New Yorkers are struggling with a severe recession and unemployment, the Mayor is issuing edicts and buying elections. That is not what we need at this critical time".

Thomson has demonstrated "creativity" in his thinking, END elaborated, and has revealed an intelligent disciplined managerial mind. He performed extremely well in the debates and held his own against the master debater Bloomberg. Thompson also has performed superbly as Controller and has the skills to re-structure the city's economy for the challenging period ahead.

END has acknowledged Mayor Bloomberg's many achievements including his Fund for various causes, including Domestic Violence. He was also responsible for turning the city economy around after 9/11.
