EA (Electronic Arts) and Hasbro have joined forces to set a New Guinness World Record playing Monopoly!

• MONOPOLY fans around the world are invited to join in “Global Monopoly Day” and play MONOPOLY Millionaires on Facebook to participate in an attempt to set a new Guinness World Record®.
• The attempt will be measured by the greatest number of people worldwide simultaneously playing MONOPOLY Millionaires on Facebook. Official adjudicators will be monitoring the game over a 24-hour period on Thursday, 7th April 2011.

• MONOPOLY Millionaires is the first free-to-play social gaming version of one of the world’s favourite family games. It was released by EA in February 2011, the title was the fastest growing Facebook game from March 7th - 14th 2011 (472% increase in players from March 1st to April 1st 2011).

When is it?
• Thursday, April 7th 2011.
• 24 hours: midnight to 11:59 p.m. BST.

How can you help?
• Players can take part during that time frame through MONOPOLY Millionaires on Facebook
• Or they can RSVP to participate on the Global MONOPOLY Day event page on Facebook at any time prior to 11:59 p.m. BST on April 7th.

What’s in it to take part?

• EA is promoting local meet ups around the globe through Meetup.com – the world’s largest network of local groups – in which fans can gather to play MONOPOLY Millionaires in the attempt to set the Guinness World Record. Participating groups are encouraged to capture images of their meet-up and send them to EA for a chance to win prizes. • Participants in Global MONOPOLY Day on Facebook will be in for a chance to win a wealth of fun rewards. A total of $20,580 in prizes – the same amount of MONOPOLY money in Hasbro’s globally popular MONOPOLY board game – are available, including $5,000 in cash, $5,000 in Visa® gift cards, various Apple® products, and many other great prizes.
