FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Easter Seals North Texas merges
with DFW Center for Autism
FORT WORTH, Texas – The DFW Center for Autism, founded in 2003 and located in Grapevine, Texas, has merged with Easter Seals North Texas.
The new name for the Grapevine location will be Easter Seals North Texas Center for Autism. It serves families and children with its Texas Star Academy pre-school and its research, training and behavior programs. Easter Seals North Texas serves families in 34 North Texas counties overcoming challenges caused by disabilities.
“This merger provides a wonderful opportunity to build upon an already successful inclusion pre-school, and grow outreach and in-home parent education, “ said Monica Prather, Easter Seals North Texas President & CEO.
“Nationally and locally, Easter Seals is at the forefront in providing autism services. By combining expertise, we can make life better for families in North Texas.”
Easter Seals locally has been providing services and support to children and adults with disabilities, and to their families, for more than 70 years. Today, Easter Seals is the country’s leading provider of services for people with autism. During the last 20 years, Easter Seals North Texas has seen a dramatic increase in the number of people with autism that the organization serves -- through its services developed specifically for people with autism and through services that include children and adults with autism among other service recipients.
DFW Center for Autism founders Carrie Greer and Rebecca Morgan will join the management team of Easter Seals North Texas. Development director Lee Ann Embry will be part of the development staff. Joining the Easter Seals North Texas Board of Directors will be six members of the Center’s board of directors: J. Searcy, Jennifer Litke, Roger Foltz, Dale Reinecker, Tiffany Self and Gelasio Wong.
The Center’s mission is to improve the lives of children with autism through Applied Behavior Analysis, allowing them to reach their full potential and to gain the skills needed to build relationships with family, friends and peers. It is a community partner of the North Texas Autism Project and utilizes faculty support and treatment staff from its university affiliations.
“The Center’s programs will remain fully intact and function just as we have in the past providing high-quality treatment and inclusive, intensive intervention using Applied Behavior Analysis. There will be no disruption in treatment or care,” said Morgan, DFW Center for Autism co-founder and Executive Director. “Carrie and I are thrilled to be able to leverage the resources of both organizations to a greater good in the community.”
