eCloudManager helps SAP Center of Excellence solve customers’ most challenging scenarios
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) February 8, 2011 --
WALLDORF, Germany – February 8th, 2011 – Since its on-site implementation in Q4 2008, the fluid Operations™ cloud automation platform, the eCloudManager™, has enabled the SAP Center of Excellence Value Prototyping (SAP CoE) to address the challenge of managing various resource silos in their data centers and of delivering value-add services to their customers by being able to rapidly replicate customer environments with a minimum footprint on infrastructure resources.
The SAP CoE collaborates with customers and partners around the world to develop working prototypes meeting complex requirements. Through its “rent-a-lab” concept, the SAP CoE offers dedicated environments for research projects with an unknown scope and undefined limits, providing the perfect nest for innovation. Their offering for landscape management also includes SAP virtual appliance templates made available through the Virtual Appliance Factory.
Implemented at the SAP CoE in Walldorf, Germany and Santa Clara, USA as an out-of-the-box and ready-to-run Landscape as a Service™ solution, the eCloudManager integrated with the available enterprise storage (NetApp and EMC), hypervisors (VMware, Hyper-V, Xen) and enterprise application (SAP) resources, thus providing a unified view over the data center and enabling the automated, on-demand, storage-based provisioning of SAP Virtual Landscapes. This led to the easier and faster adoption of virtualization for mission-critical applications, and resulted in unprecedented cost and time savings in running SAP applications.
“The eCloudManager full stack monitoring and management feature allowed us to detect infrastructure failures affecting the applications, or errors at the application level, before they were discovered by the customer and before they could cause application or service downtime” said Ralf Lindenlaub, Sr. Dir. Infrastructure & Technology at SAP CoE / Value Prototyping, “while being able to rapidly replicate customer environments meant that we could deliver more than 500 Virtual Landscapes in 2010 with an average total size of 100TB and help our customers solve their most challenging scenarios in minutes.”
