ECO-ONE Solutions, a subsidiary of the Natick-based Integrated Green Building Solutions, recently came to the rescue of Romeo Lopez, Building Services Manager of Babson College’s Facilities Department
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) November 18, 2009 --
Babson recently up-graded one dormitory full of furniture which included approximately 70 beds, desks, chairs, and chests still in very useable condition. Romeo’s responsibility was to find a better home for the leftovers than the landfill. He contacted Regional Sales Manager. Susan Evans. to see if she could help. After calling a number of possible charitable organizations, Susan found Household Goods Recycling Massachusetts receptive to her call. Joe Chappell, HGRM Director and volunteer, responded happily to the need, rounded up other volunteers and scheduled their trucks to make the pick-up at Babson College. HGRM is an Acton based 400 volunteer organization which provides home furnishings for needy people serving approximately 4000 Massachusetts families annually. In addition to the furniture, Babson also made a donation of $500.
Recycling is part of everyday operations at both Babson College and ECO-ONE Solutions, a surplus salvage company and consultancy to General Contractors to adopt green building contruction practices with waste recycling rates as high as 95%. This surplus furniture relocation is a Win, Win, Win as far as Romeo, Susan and Joe are all concerned.
