New Birth Missionary Baptist Church- Committed to the Dream of Homeownership

Homeownership is the cornerstone of the American dream. In spite of uncertain economic times, New Birth Missionary Baptist Church is working to ensure that dreams can still become a reality.

At New Birth, we aim to live, love and lead like Jesus Christ. We are called to be a catalyst for new beginnings, and to serve those in need. Jesus said in Matthew 25:35 that our service to others should reflect our love for Him:

“For I was hungry and you gave me meat; I was thirsty, and you gave me drink; I was a stranger, and you took me in; naked, and you clothed me; I was sick, and you visited me; I was in prison, and you came unto me...as you have done it unto one of the least of these, you have done it unto me.”

Restoring the dream of homeownership, New Birth leaders and The Watchmen Men’s Ministry, assisted in the renovation and reconstruction of a home for a special family of six. Work began with Georgia Senator Ronald Ramsey tearing down the first piece of old siding, and ended with the complete transformation of a new home for the Milsap family. Bishop Eddie L. Long, Senior Pastor of New Birth, shared the importance of reaching beyond the four walls of the church saying, “We’re thankful that Habitat for Humanity partnered with us on such an important project. Now more than ever, we are committed to ongoing volunteerism within our community.”

Habitat for Humanity-DeKalb acquired the foreclosed home near Brown’s Mill Road with funding support from the New Birth Watchmen Men’s Ministry. The renovation was completed with additional funds from the DeKalb Habitat Community Housing Development LLC subsidiary from DeKalb County Community Development. The home transformation took only seven weeks, and included a new roof, new siding, new flooring, and new paint. New Birth provided all of the volunteer labor for the project.

New Birth Missionary Baptist Church caters to families and businesses while implementing public outreach initiatives.
