Egg Incubators for Chickens, Ducks, Quail, Birds and Reptiles
Welcome visit Our WebSite:
http://incubatoregg.com Greenville, PA. 16125. Date – February 19, 2012 - If you are raising backyard chickens and want to hatch your own chicks egg incubators are the solution. They are inexpensive and will get the job done. This will overcome the problems associated with chickens hatching their own eggs. There are still air models you can use to hatch a dozen or so eggs and there are larger forced-air models that can be used to hatch dozens or even hundreds of eggs. These large units are hands-free and are relatively expensive so that they are mainly used for commercial operations. With the smaller still air models you will have to turn the eggs several times a day until they hatch. There are even mini incubators that will hold three eggs for hatching.
Egg incubators are also used for hatching duck eggs, turkey eggs, quail and pheasant eggs, small bird eggs and even reptile eggs. It takes about three weeks for a chicken egg to hatch; duck eggs 33 days; quail eggs 18 days and Bobwhites 23 days. After the chicks are removed from the incubator they will need to be placed in a warm environment. This is where a chick brooder is a valuable addition. These are easy to build yourself and you can find plans online. The light over the top will provide warmth for the baby chicks until such time as their feathers develop. You can adjust the temperature by moving the light up or down. Chicks will need feed, water and space to develop.
An egg incubator will electrically simulate the actions of the mother hen by providing heat from heat lamps, turning devices and ventilation which are all needed to hatch the eggs. If the model you use does not have a turning device, this will have to be accomplished manually. The type of egg incubator that is best for you depends on the money you wish to invest and the amount of time you want to spend.
This website will be updated regularly to keep you informed on your choices in using and purchasing egg incubators. This site will have articles from leading poultry journals, article directories and product manufacturers and distributors so that you will always be up to date when it comes to raising pultry whether it is a hobby or business.
