Welcome visit Our WebSite:
http://forwardthinkingmuseum.com/ The Arab society in Israel accounts for over a fifth of the population that remained within the state's premises upon its establishment in 1948. Natan Dvir documents the lives of those part of the Arab Israeli world – a minority often times disregarded, as the world turns its attention to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. His images capture the Arab youth at the crucial age of eighteen, when they complete school, obtain the status of "legal adult" and earn the right to vote.
"I chose to photograph my subjects in their everyday surroundings to maintain a sense of place, focusing on the complex dynamics – unwelcoming facial expressions and body language testifying to the initially tense nature of our engagement," says Dvir. "The portraits are combined with personal testimonies and candid images, revealing not only a glimpse into their lives, but also into the transformation of my interactions with my subjects."
Natan Dvir was born in 1972, in Israel. He obtained his MBA and MFA from Tel Aviv University and the School of Visual Arts respectively. He has been published in leading international magazines, such as the New York Times Magazine, Newsweek, London Times, Le Monde , and Stern.
