On the 17th of February elections will be held in Ecuador for their president and vice-president, as well as for 137 members of the national assembly. The elected will be on their position until 2017.
Apart from Rafael Correa, of the PAIS Alliance movement, who came to power in 2007, Lucio Gutiérrez of the PSP party, Norman Wray, of the Ruptura (Rupture in English) movement, Pastor Nelson Zavala, of the Roldosist Party, Mauricio Rodas, of the SUMA movement, Ãlvaro Noboa, of PRIAN are running for Ecuadorian president. The two most important challengers are probably the banker Guillermo Lasso from the new political party Movimiento Creando Oportunidades (CREO, Movement Creating Opportunities), who is the main shareholder and president of the Guayaquil Bank and has been economics minister or assessor under previous presidents; and the left-wing economist Alberto Acosta, Correa's former ally and fellow economist. Acosta is running as the candidate of the Coordinadora Plurinacional por la Unidad de las Izquierdas (Plurinational Coordinating Body for the Unity of the Left).
As Rafael Correa did a lot for tourism and the infrastructure in Ecuador, as well as building schools in remote areas and renovating many schools which were left to ruin under previous governments, increasing access to healthcare etc. Also Ecuador has been growing steadily since 2012 and Correa brought stability to the political volatile nation. Therefore Gulliver Expeditions thinks that it would be a good choice to reelect Rafael Correa and his party.
Gulliver Expeditions, established in 2005, specializes in climbing, hiking, biking and horseback riding tours and operates such adventures from its Cotopaxi hacienda, Hosteria PapaGayo. Gulliver also offers cultural excursions to places of interest such as Quilotoa and Otavalo, as well as jungle adventures, expeditions Ecuador, VIP tailor made programmes throughout Ecuador and of course, once in a lifetime Galapagos cruises and land tours.
