Elena Vasileva’s artistic process is based on spontaneity, and she loves to find unexpected and creative solutions to any problems that arise as she explores playful and varied techniques for putting oil to canvas. Elena approaches each painting like a sketch, sweeping different textures across the plane and creating a “live” line to connect her subjects with a sense of movement. Using a color palette that works to underline this kinetic energy, the artist casts dancing shadows of light and dark in rhythmic patterns, the dynamics of which further illustrate the liveliness of her work. Using her creations to reconcile the outside world with her internal state, the dialogue Elena creates with her nascent images finally take the form of a living, breathing consensus between her worldly inspirations and her infinite gratitude for their expression. As her subjects evolve, she imbues them with a sense of lightness, giving them the magical quality of the Impressionist pieces that inspired her as a child.
Elena Vasileva currently lives and works in Kiev, Ukraine.

About the Exhibition
The days may still seem short, but the artwork displayed at Agora Gallery this March will bring light, warmth and a sense of freshness to your day. Let yourself experience a new way of viewing the world through the work displayed in East Meets West: an Exhibition of Fine Art from Asia, in which talented Asian artists unite their personal abilities with their sensitivity to universal affairs, to create art which is often informed by their cultural heritage. Unbound Perspectives provides new insight into the world we live in, as the artists tread the delicate line between realism and optimism to show us both what is and what could be. In Reverie of Form takes us on a journey of discovery and delight that nonetheless relates to aspects of shared human experience, hinting gently at the wonder that we often ignore.
