Empire State Building to Mother Teresa: No we won‘t- NY to Empire State Building: Yes we will

(Free-Press-Release.com) June 16, 2010 -- Empire State Building owner Anthony Malkin, has remained steadfast in his lights- off decision when it comes to Mother Teresa, in spite of the Empire State Building honoring such notables as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Mariah Carey and the 60th anniversary of Communist China. Let’s not forget the tribute to blue M&M’s. In press releases, Malkin explained that they don’t honor religious leaders. Ironically, the building has honored Pope John Paul II and Cardinal O’Connor. The snub has prompted New Yorkers to promote their own day of remembrance.

The Bronx has stepped up to the plate by announcing that the Hutchinson Metro Center off of the Hutchinson River Parkway, will light up their building in Mother Teresa’s colors of blue and white on her birthday.
Brooklyn has swaggered in with Borough President Marty Markowitz announcing the lighting of Brooklyn’s Borough Hall to commemorate the date.
Manhattan will bring out the big guns by lighting up the USS Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum on August 26.

Should individual New Yorkers feel left out, Council Speaker Christine Quinn called for a day of remembrance to honor the late Nobel Prize winner by asking that New Yorkers put battery-operated lights in their windows on August 26.
