ENABLE AMERICA SERVES DISABLED VETERANS WITH MENTORING PROGRAMS AT TRIANGLE EMPLOYERS DURING NOVEMBER

Tampa -- Free-Press-Release.com-- Nov 2, 2011 -- RALEIGH, NC – October 26, 2011: Enable America, a non-profit organization devoted to improving employment for disabled veterans, wounded warriors, and persons with disabilities, will partner with local employers to offer a Job Seekers Workshop and Career Mentoring Days in celebration of November, National Disabled Veteran Employment Awareness Month. These events provide opportunities for disabled veterans to connect with Triangle employers for job search advice and career exploration.

“The unemployment rate for disabled veterans is astoundingly high” said Richard Salem, founder and CEO of Enable America. “These talented men and women who served our country until they encountered a service-related disability, need our help to secure employment and financial independence.” Salem continued, "The opportunity to develop a network of business contacts, explore career fields, and learn about local companies can accelerate a successful job search.”

Triangle companies participating in Enable America November Career Mentoring Days include: SAS, Carolina Hurricanes, Eaton Corporation, WRAL, IBM, and Progress Energy. Under the Enable America programs, employers dedicated to diversity and inclusion partner with Enable America to host Job Seeker Workshops and provide career mentoring experiences for disabled veterans in November.

On November 1, SAS will host the Enable America Job Seekers Workshop for Disabled Veterans. Volunteer Human Resource professionals from Progress Energy, SAS, IBM, Eaton Corporation and Experis will serve as panelists and deliver workshop content, providing a unique opportunity for attendees to accelerate their job search with information directly from employers.

Enable America works with social and veteran service organizations including the DHHS Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment Services, Workforce Development Board, Community Workforce Solutions, Veterans Administration, the Employment Security Commission and diversity managers at local colleges and universities to recruit participants. In addition to employee mentoring, Enable America offers other services throughout North Carolina, all designed to improve job opportunities. Those include community connection forums, in which local leaders, lawmakers, employers and service providers come together to learn and share success stories. These meetings are an important step in building a bridge between those with disabilities, and their community.
