Chicago -- Free-Press-Release.com-- Jun 14, 2011 -- Chicago, IL - Priority Energy, LLC, has announced the use of Aeroseal technology to seal air duct leaks, saving consumers an estimated 25 to 40 percent in utility bills. The new technology allows Priority Energy technicians to quickly pinpoint and seal air duct leaks. This system will provide customers with an inexpensive solution to a common problem that will yield better air quality, improve room comfort, save energy, and will also extend the life of their heating and cooling systems.
Priority Energy, a certified Aeroseal contractor, is one of the few local providers of this sealing technology. The Aeroseal process works by isolating leaks in the air duct system and sealing them through the computer-controlled injection of safe aerosol articles. The technology was developed at U.C. Berkeley in 1994 with funding by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Department of Energy, and others. Aeroseal was selected as Popular Mechanic's Invention of the Year in 1996 and was named to DOE's "Top 100 Inventions" of the last 23 years.
"What homeowners need to understand is that their total heating and cooling efficiency is defined by multiplying the efficiency of their furnace or air conditioner times the efficiency of their duct system. Since most duct systems are only 60-70% efficient, even if they have a 90% efficient furnace, it’s likely the actual efficiency is between 54%-63%, meaning they’re wasting 37-46% of the gas or electricity they are paying for. Duct loss is also a big part of comfort problems in homes and office buildings. This is cutting-edge, cost-effective technology that can address problems in the duct systems that have been overlooked in the past, ensuring that the system operation is highly efficient," says Rob Schildgen, Owner and Founder of Priority Energy.
Duct sealing also protects against harmful infiltration of unconditioned air from attic or crawl spaces, and carbon monoxide backdraft. Air purification is an added benefit for allergy sufferers. In addition, many utility companies are advising customers who have high bill complaints to have their duct systems checked. Go to Priority Energy/Aeroseal, for more information.
