Artist Ann Bell welcomes the public to visit her studio Saturday December 3 between noon and 5 PM to experience the light-filled studio where she makes her art, to view the art and to enjoy the music that inspires her. A visit to the artist's studio offers a more intimate view of the artist than a gallery visit ever could. It's an opportunity to connect directly with the artist and view the range of her styles. Those who attend will have the opportunity to ask Bell questions and view her latest artistic creations. Many original paintings and cards are priced to encourage artistic indulgences and creative gifts. Gift certificates are available for private lessons, classes and art.

Because Ann Bell believes that art is as essential to life as water or air, and she wants to share her art with others, she opens her studio periodically. "Art enhances our lives. It opens doors to our imagination and our creativity, whether we are making art or viewing it," declares Bell. "Everyone needs opportunities to experience art. Art feeds our souls."

"I call my work “mixed media” to emphasize that my materials are unrestricted. I’m inspired by nature, memories and my imagination. Imagination is the most important element. I love color and pattern. I use acrylic paints, oil pastels and any tool I feel will best capture my vision. I love using collage, my hand-carved stamps and a variety of stencils and found objects as stencils, masks, & printing elements."

About her paintings, Bell observes, "Although I start with the memory of an actual place, while I am painting, my imagination takes over. The resulting painting captures my feelings about the place."

In addition to her own painting and teaching, Ann Bell is active in several Houston art groups, including Women in the Visual & Literary Arts (WiVLA), where she served four years on the Board of Directors, and Visual Arts Alliance. She has demonstrated for numerous art organizations throughout Houston and the surrounding areas. She teaches a monthly workshop for girl scouts at the San Jacinto Council on the Southwest Freeway. Occasionally she is invited to visit a local school as a visiting artist.

Ann Bell is a mixed media artist, teacher and creativity coach. She has taught hundreds of aspiring artists. Her paintings can be found in collections across the United States and in several foreign countries.

She maintains her studio at Art Square, located in Midtown at 2711 Main St. in the building with Art Supply. She regularly participates in Midtown Visions Cultural Arts Tour in the spring and Art Square Open Studios in the fall. Ann recently began offering online mixed-media classes.
