Grant Park is an over-300-acre artistic haven in the middle of the city. At the north end is Millennium Park, home to a concert venue, giant sculpture, fountains, and a monument, making it one of the most scenic areas in Chicago. Both art and architecture lovers can appreciate this array of sleek modern style in a variety of media, such as the Cloud Gate sculpture — also known as The Bean by Chicagoans — the Jay Pritzker Pavilion, host to outdoor musical venues, the Crown Fountain, BP Pedestrian Bridge, and the Wrigley Square Millennium Monument. While perhaps the art most synonymous with Chicago would be the center point of Grant Park, Buckingham Fountain. Surrounded by the impressive Four Figure Fountain, this showpiece gives a somewhat European flair to the fair city.
Travel to the south end of Grant Park to enjoy the world’s largest museum campus on which resides the Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, and the Adler Planetarium. Just south of Millennium Park is also the Art Institute of Chicago, a whole world of art unto itself. Guests can enjoy public art scattered around the campus outside, enjoy the architecture of the buildings, and of course, venture inside for an in-depth exploration of each of their exhibits.
