Student Painters, an organization that helps college students raise money for school and learn business skills, is booking appointments in Lawrence and the surrounding areas. In association with Young Entrepreneurs Across America, Student Painters trains motivated college students how to be successful entrepreneurs. Ian Eliason, a freshman at the University of Kansas and a Providence Academy graduate, is the Branch Manager of the Lawrence area. He will hire about half a dozen employees consisting of other college student in the area who will begin Exterior Painting jobs the first week in May and work through August. He has a goal of around 15 jobs and $25,000 in sales sold by the May 1. Ian is well on his way! Currently, his time is consumed with marketing his company and performing estimates for customers.
Ian Eliason was hired back in November after many strenuous interviews and beating out many other applicants. Since being hired, Ian has been working on many recruiting and marketing papers to make sure he is fully prepared and ready to run his own company this summer. Student Painter managers undergo training in the spring and must pass several exams before being allowed in the field. After many months of training and long days, Ian is finally ready to run a $50,000 to $60,000 company this summer, and he’s still only in college!
The company Student Painters has been in business since 1987. The company evolved as the need for summer jobs for business students, specializing in the business of teaching, coaching, and supporting college students in running their own successful small business. “It offers a great learning experience because I will gain real world experience that I cannot receive in a classroom environment at KU,” says Ian. “The company provides me with all the necessary resources I need then turns me into a business owner.”
Eliason will be working full time this summer, making sure every one of his customers are 100% satisfied with every job his company does. And he doesn’t mind giving up his weekends either to get his business up and running. “I don’t see it as giving up time but more as getting ahead of everyone else this summer. Giving up 12 weekend of summer is a lot, but the experience and rewards I receive this summer will be well worth it.”
All painters are Sherwin Williams certified, so Eliason insists each job is done to the customer’s complete satisfaction. Each job Student Painters does carries a one-year guarantee on quality (two years with two coats), and the company carries a $1 million liability insurance and full workers’ compensation of its employees.
The company is happy to give anyone interested in exterior painting needs a FREE estimate. Appointments can be made by contacting Eliason at (785) 734 4490.
