Entries Now Accepted For 2010 Hailsham In Bloom Competitions

(Free-Press-Release.com) October 20, 2009 -- .........into the South & South East in Bloom competition.

Many of the town’s residents and community groups are proud of their horticultural achievements, and the ‘Hailsham in Bloom’ organisers would like to hear from anyone who wishes to flaunt their horticultural and ecological handiwork.

Entries are now being invited to the annual Hailsham in Bloom local garden competitions, with a variety of categories to involve the whole town. Cash prizes will also be up for grabs for competition winners, details of which will be announced in the near future.

This year, there are four local competition categories:

• Best Kept Front Garden (in conjunction with Environment Hailsham)
Front gardens of any size which are regularly maintained, have a wide variety of plants and colour combinations, and look tidy overall.

• Best Kept Allotment (in conjunction with Hailsham Horticultural Society)
Providing evidence of hard work that allotment holders put into their plots, including use of recycling and sustainable methods for gardening and the quality of crops grown.

• Best Business Premises

Open to businesses in Hailsham, including shops, restaurants, hotels and industrial units, whose decorated frontage contains an attractive floral display or well-maintained garden.

• Best Public House Display
Open to all pubs in Hailsham and its environs whose frontage contains an attractive floral display or well-maintained garden.

For those who wish to enter one or more of the above competitions, entry forms are available at the Town Council Offices (Inglenook, Market Street) or online at www.hailshaminbloom.org, although some entrants (including Town Council owned allotment plots) will be entered incognito. Entry for all competition categories is free of charge.

The closing date for entries is Friday 18th June 2010.

Deputy Town Mayor and Chairman of Hailsham In Bloom, Cllr Jeff Bentley-Astor, urges as many people to take part in the competitions as possible:
