Salt Lake City -- Free-Press-Release.com-- Aug 18, 2011 -- Wendover, Utah August 17, 2011 - During the 2011 Bonneville Speed Week, last year’s Modified Sports Car land speed record of 237.87mph held by an Enzo Ferrari was smashed by a 1971 Triumph GT-6. The new record was set at 305.59mph. The Black Salt Racing’s vehicle is the first modified sports car to achieve a record over 300mph.
This win catapulted Keith G. Copeland, the driver, into the exclusive 300 mph Chapter of the 200 Club.
The team’s original car was destroyed in a 2008 crash at that year’s Speed Week event. After a lengthy design period was completed during the driver’s year and a half recovery, the new car was fabricated by StrangeFab Metalcrafts of Tucson, Az. in only 9 short months.
