Then indulge your taste buds (but not your waistline) with a maritime bounty that includes a seafood martini; grilled octopus with fava Santorini; and oven-roasted Mediterranean lavraki with lemon potatoes and wild steamed greens. For a light, but sweet, finish to the night, Abrahante offers sheep’s milk yogurt with thyme honey and tropical fruit. Williamsburg to Ban New Liquor Licenses?by James Mulcahy
Can Williamsburg exist without pickle backs? Uh oh – word is leaking out from the ‘Burg, home of cheap cans of beer and pickle backs galore, that Community Board One has voted unanimously to put the quash on new liquor licenses, at least for the time being. From Brooklyn 11211:
“[The Board] voted unanimously to institute a moratorium on new liquor licenses in Williamsburg, Greenpoint and the rest of North Brooklyn. The vote was a response to what the leaders of CB1 see as an over saturation of liquor licenses in the area.”

Semi freddo; photo by Albert TuNo word yet about what’s happening with the former Convivio space – reportedly, Chris Cannon still holds the lease to the space, and it’s unclear if he plans on opening a new concept or abandoning it altogether. We did hear that the former pastry sous chef Julie Elkind has joined the team over at BLT Steak and she’s already added items such as a white chocolate semi freddo to the menu (with pistachio dacquoise and whipped pistachio honey). Grill at TakashiLocated on Hudson Street, it’s hard to believe that small Japanese restaurant Takashi has been grilling up unusual cuts of cow (fourth stomach, anyone?) for a year. To celebrate its birthday, the restaurant is offering a few treats for free. If you stop by on April 15 between 5:30 and 11 PM, you can score some of chef Takashi’s bone marrow burgers on the house, along with a glass of sake to wash everything down. Since it’s a party, go all out – order that shredded Achilles tendon. Yum (212-414-2929).
