eScan the world’s leading Anti-Virus solution provider has once again achieved VB test lab the prestigious “VB100%” award for its latest eScan internet security version 11 for windows.
Promoted by Virus Bulletin Magazine, VB100% certifications are amongst the most widely recognized certifications within the industry. First introduced in 1998, VB100 certification tests focus on virus detection rates, scanning speeds, as well as looking at how each product fares, when scanning set files that are known to be clean.
In the December 2011, tests, eScan internet security 11 for windows was tested with a minimum of 1000 replicated samples, representing each variant of the total size from the Wild List set that reached over 25,000 samples—a record in recent years. eScan 11 for windows has emerged as a proud winner of another VB100 award with Zero false positives and nothing missed in the Wild List.
Testing of the product moved along nicely with no issues, showing fairly slow speeds in the throughput tests, light overheads on access, fairly high use of RAM. With average CPU use and impact on set of tasks, the product definitely stands first in the race. Detection rates, as expected from seeing other products using the Bit Defender engine included here were extremely solid. With absolutely no false positives either, eScan earns a VB100 award without any fuss.
Mr. Govind Rammurthy, CEO & Managing Director, eScan said, “. We won this award consecutively for the 30th time. eScan Internet Security Suite for windows has advanced technologies and is power packed to meet the challenges posed by not only the current generation of malware but also by the next generation ones. This award also showcases the fact that even after having strong detection rates, eScan uses very low resources and does not impact the system performance.“
Helen Martin, the Editor of Virus Bulletin commented in the report, on the wider detection front, our new Response test has proved an interesting first attempt. This month’s entry from eScan came as a fairly hefty 190MB installer, including some updates, but it ran through in reasonable time, with nothing too taxing required of the user. With an initial scan job and fetching the latest updates, installs averaged at around nine minutes. Testing brought up no issues, and was completed in good time, requiring less than the allotted two days of lab time.
