Now you can use your phone keypad for names, etc. in Amharic and other Ethipic characters. For instance, the digit "1" key can be used for the various phonetic sound version and orders of "ሀለመ".

ግዕዝን ኮምፕዩተራዝ ሳደርግ ካጋጠሙኝ እክሎች ኣንዱ የስልክ ቍጥሮችን ስምና ኣኃዝ ማገናኘት ነበር። የስምና ኣኃዝ ጥቅም በእንግሊዝኛ የተለመደ ሲሆን ከእዚህ በታች የቀረበው ሥዕል ለዓማርኛ ያልተሟላ ቢመስልም ለሁሉም የግዕዝ ቋንቋ ተጠቃሚዎች እንዲያገለግል ማስፋፋት ይቻላል።

ለምሳሌ ያህል ግዕዝኤዲት2 በ"756-5732" ሊወከል ሲችል የኣሜሪካ ድምጽ ሬድዮ ጣቢያን ስልክ ቁጥርን "202- 651-2571" በማድረግ "202-የኣሜሪካ ድምጽ" በማለት ተጠቃሚው ሊያስታውስ በሚችልበት ማቅረብ ይቻላል። በእዚሁ ዓይነት የኣንድ የምርጫ ስብሰባን የስልክ ኢንተርኔት መግቢያ ቁጥር "የምርጫ ስብሰባ" በማለት ተጠቃሚው የሚያታውሰውን ማቅረብ ወደ "61282323" ቍጥሮች በመመንዘር ለመጠቀም ይረዳል።
Ethiopic Names and Numbers

One of the challenges I faced while computerizing Ethiopic was how to represent Ethiopic using the telephone keypad. Below is a new item for use in phone numbers, passwords and the like in Ethiopic. As shown in the picture only some Amharic characters are represented. These can be expanded to other Ethiopic language alphabets by extending the basic characters.

For instance, the phone number for "ግዕዝኤዲት2" can easily be remembered as 756-5732 while "የኣሜሪካ ድምጽ" can be represented as 202- 651-2571.
Similarly, passcode for "የምርጫ ስብሰባ" would be 61282323.
