eWON unveils COSY, the new range of industrial routers. A simple, well-priced router for remote management of industrial equipment

eWON is unveiling COSY, its new range of industrial routers. The eWON COSY 141 is the first in this new range, and complements the existing range of PLC Remote Access solutions, including the eWON 2005CD and 4005CD series of products. For eWON, this is a new venture into a lower-priced range of solutions. As Serge Bassem, eWON's CEO, says: "industrial routers are usually expensive products. With the eWON COSY we now have a high-quality entry-level product at a competitive price of less than 600 euros. ".

The eWON COSY 141, the first product in this new range, has 4 Ethernet ports to connect the machine locally, a WAN Ethernet port for connection to the internet via the local network, and a serial port for serial connection of PLCs.

"The eWON COSY has most of the features of the eWON CD series. It is based on the same hardware, but we have simplified it", says Serge Bassem. "We noticed that many businesses that already had our CD routers did not use all the available functionality, and that the monitoring and diagnostic capabilities in particular were under-used".

This new product, in comparison with the CD series, has a simplified web interface and is designed for businesses that only need basic remote access functionality: upload and download of the PLC program, access to an IP camera, remote use of a HMI (Human Machine Interface) and remote customer support.

However, when creating eWON, quality was not sacrificed in favour of price. The COSY range, like the CD series, is designed to have a long life (minimum 10 years) in tough industrial settings.

"This new range is, of course, compatible with our Talk2M application", continues Pierre Crokaert, CTO and co-founder of eWON. "This software solution, which has won multiple awards, is completely secure. It provides a secure communication route via the Internet between the user and the remote machine, without altering the computer network at either end in any way. ".

Replacing modem connections
The eWON COSY 141 enables remote maintenance of many brands of PLC. For the engineer, the experience is as good as being next to the machine swift interaction is possible using a transparent connection via most serial and ethernet PLCs, and with recognition of many protocols.

"Many businesses are still using their trusty old modems, with all the drawbacks that these have: connections are slow and unstable, and they take ages to transfer files. Modems are things of the past now.
