Weegee, renowned for his black and white street photography, used an IR flash as early as 1943 to snap surreptitious shots of cinema audiences. Elliott Landy's psychedelic images of the 1960s portray legendary musicians, like Bob Dylan and Albert Ayler.
Moving into the contemporary age of IR imaging, the exhibit showcases a diverse array of effects that can be achieved with equipment sensitized to infrared radiation. Leafy vegetation appears almost white in images by Jake Polonsky and Bill Gracey. Andreina Schoeberlein's photographs are rendered in stunning high contrast, while Hugues Helbo's blood-red shrubs turn the coast of Greece into a distant planet.

Shooting sections or entire motion pictures on infrared film stock is represented in a series of still-frames from movies like "Predator", "Fort Apache" or "Soy Cuba." Throughout the 30s and 40s, infrared film was used to shoot outdoor night scenes in broad daylight ("Bulldog Drummond's Bride). "Predator" introduced thermal-imaging (Far Infrared) in 1987.
