(Free-Press-Release.com) August 7, 2011 --
Anticipate that exit polling will be taking place during the recall elections in Wisconsin.
A Citizens’ Written Exit Poll is a publicly-observable, nonpartisan exit poll that invites voters to anonymously record their recently cast votes, sign a document that they voted in the poll exactly as they voted on the official ballot, and compares the results to the official results posted at the polling site on Election Night. Properly designed and conducted, Exit Polls can be used in a court of law as evidence of error, machine malfunction, or fraud.
The exit polling concept has been used by United Nations poll watchers in fledging democracies around the world to ensure that elections represent the intent of the voter. In fact, Exit Polls have been used to overturn fraudulent elections in the Ukraine, Serbia, the Republic of Georgia and Peru.
Election Defense Alliance and Protect California Ballots, two non-partisan non-profit organizations dedicated to restoring transparency to our elections, spearheaded this effort and provided guidance and training to the Wisconsin citizens who organized this Citizens’ Written Exit Poll to safeguard our vote and our democracy.
Purpose
The purpose is to provide a sound, hard-number (not statistical) basis for evaluating the legitimacy of official election results, and to support a court or other challenge with methodology and analysis should a campaign or citizen
group petition for a recount or other challenge.
All Exit Poll data remain anonymous. Results will not become public until after the polls have closed; polling data will not be used to determine, predict, or project results.
The leaders
Concerned Wisconsin citizens, recruiting others, creating teams, choosing sites, organizing.
Wisconsin Wave providing participants and vision.
Citizens from other states, equally concerned about the vulnerabilities of our electronic software-based vote-counting systems, traveling to Wisconsin to participate.
Judith Alter (Protect California Ballots) and Sally Castleman (Election Defense Alliance) providing methodology, training, materials, and consultation.
Jonathan Simon (Election Defense Alliance) analyzing the
data and publishing results.
Election Defense Alliance (501c3) and Protect California Ballots (501c3) providing additional logistical support.
Methodology The methodology is different from most exit polling operations. We are not seeking a representative sample. Because we expect most participants to sign a document that they voted in the poll the same as they voted in the election, we intend to use hard numbers to assess the legitimacy of the official outcomes.

Mission Beyond Wisconsin Recall Elections…to stand as a resource for four groups:
State election boards who seek technical advice, contracting expertise and best practices on running fair elections,
Legislative bodies (state and federal) requiring technical input on electronic security and best practices,
Citizen watch groups who need education and ongoing information,
Political campaigns that need independent exit polling, tested methodology and expert witness testimony if required.
