Midvale -- Free-Press-Release.com-- Jan 11, 2012 -- School Improvement Network, in association with Pacific Educational Group and Glenn Singleton, hosted a webinar on Monday, January 9, 2012, entitled “Explorations in Equity.” The webinar, which will be available for free download beginning Monday, January 23, 2012, was attended by hundreds of online participants from across Canada and the United States.
“We are, and always have been very enthusiastic about Glenn’s work,” says Curtis Linton, vice president of School Improvement Network; “it’s refreshing in its honesty and insight, and incredibly important to the health of schools and students. It’s encouraging to see teachers and administrators catching Glenn’s vision, and conducting candid, courageous conversations about race.”
Throughout “Explorations in Equity,” Singleton encouraged participants to honestly investigate their notions of race, and to discover how their conceptions of “color” and “whiteness” influenced their behavior toward others. The webinar provided strategies for talking about race, and for identifying, understanding, and beginning to resolve areas in our school systems that have racial impact and undertones.
Singleton’s message resonated with attendees, whose eager participation created a thought-provoking discussion about race and education.
"Thank you so much to School Improvement Network for hosting this webinar with Glenn,” says Joyce Matthews, and educators at Fairfax County Schools in Virginia. “Our school group has been reading Glenn’s book and utilizing School Improvement Network’s videos. This is such a wonderful resource!!!"
Anyone can enjoy Singleton’s “Explorations in Equity” for free. The webinar will be archived on School Improvement Network’s home website, and will be available for download with audio and visual components beginning January 23, 2012.
