Explore Miniature Worlds for Free!
Explore Miniature Worlds for Free!
Matthew Hornbostel has developed a method for people to explore miniature worlds in a breathtaking first-person view. The first of these worlds, Pryme, is due for release in a few months.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) July 11, 2010 --
The world has made stunning strides in panoramic technology, and in virtual tours - but rarely has anyone attempted something as unique and unusual as what Matthew Hornbostel is attempting on TriumphantArtists.com.
His goal is to make a series of explorable worlds using QTVR panoramas - worlds that aren't real places and aren't CGI - worlds that are miniature models in scales ranging from 1/87 to 1/24 scale.
Players will be able to explore these handcrafted miniature landscapes in an immersive first-person view for free, though the even more compelling high-resolution versions of the worlds will cost a few cents apiece.
The first of these worlds, the appropriately named "Pryme", is a garden with ferns, pond, flowers, trees, and rock formations. It's supposed to be relaxing and beautiful to wander around in.
Is there a market for first-person exploration of miniature worlds on the PC? Matthew Hornbostel is betting that the appeal of miniatures will result in success for his small indie experiment - and that even if it fails, other projects like his iPhone app "Isola: Prologue", his T-gauge miniature buildings, or his web video channel, will be major successes.
His goal is nothing less than an independent entertainment network, one which can continue to expand steadily over time and which can produce amazing content on very small budgets, driven by the talent of Matthew and other young artists he has recruited.
The miniature worlds - his "Miniature Multiverse" - are part of that goal.
