Fabulous at 40: Diva Taunia celebrates her 40th birthday - Burlesque style!

(Free-Press-Release.com) January 24, 2012 -- Diva Taunia spent the better part of her adult life as a morbidly obese woman. After having RNY gastric bypass surgery four years ago, she has successfully maintained a 150 lbs loss and is about to celebrate her fortieth birthday singing and dancing onstage in a show that she created, produced, directed, and choreographed. Her cabaret-burlesque group is called "The Diva Taunia Dolls," and they'll be celebrating her birthday on Sunday, February 19th at The Junkyard in Nashua, NH to an anticipated sold-out show.

"I refuse to turn 40 without a fight!" laughs Diva Taunia. "I just can't imagine a better way to turn 40: dancing and singing onstage in a corset. It'll be hard to top that when I turn 50, but I'm sure I'll try."

Taunia created "The Diva Taunia Dolls," after losing her weight and wanting to have a vehicle to finally dance onstage. "Here I was this newly thinner person with absolutely no dance training. I realized that I would have to create the kind of vehicle I wanted to perform in, and I also used that as a challenge to learn and teach choreography." The group has an open-door policy: any woman (or man) who wants a role in the show can be involved, and always at their own comfort level. Taunia choreographs 90% of the numbers.

While the Doll's main focus is large-scale and fully-costumed song and dance numbers, they also have a good deal of burlesque acts ranging from traditional vaudeville style to modern day and very risqué' numbers. There's a little something for everyone in this show, but audience members know to come with an open mind and be prepared for bawdy humor and sexy showstoppers.

Taunia's intent is to showcase the beauty, sexy appeal, and strength of all shapes, sizes, ages, and backgrounds. Their first two shows sold-out and they expect the same with this birthday celebration performance just before the President's Day holiday. The Junkyard in Nashua is hosting the show, and they offer plenty of parking and a unique indoor artistic venue with a gothic and urban-hip appeal. The Junkyard is an 21+ venue.
