Factors that Effect Dry Magnetic Separator Operation
The factors can be generally illustrated from three aspects: feeding layer thickness (feeding quantity), magnetic field intensity and working gap, feeding speed.

(1) Feeding layer thickness. It is influenced by granularity and magnetic property of raw material. (3) Feeding speed. Feeding speed is in accordance with the speed of vibrating trough (or belt). Mechanical forces that mineral particles undertake are main gravity and inertia force, in which, gravity is a constant, and the inertial force is proportional to the square of speed. Weak magnetic mineral grains get a little more magnetic force than gravity in magnetic field, therefore, due to the inertia force is increased, when speed exceeds a certain limit, the adsorption of magnetic force will be insufficient and cause recovery decreasing. Therefore, separating weak magnetic minerals should adopt a slower feeding speed than that of strong magnetic mineral.
