Come learn about community needs and make a difference, all in one place! You and your family may qualify to volunteer a day in 2010 and receive free Disney Passes!

Niles, MI - The Volunteer Center of Southwest Michigan’s Family Volunteer Day is this Saturday, November 21, 2009 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Niles-Buchanan YMCA, 905 Front Street, in Niles, Michigan.
Come learn about community needs and make a difference, all in one place! Family Volunteer Day has hands on volunteer activities for people of all ages.
Volunteer Day Activities
Some of the activities to help the community include:
Humane Society: Make toys for the cats at the shelter
Emergency Shelter: Make no sew blankets
Blue Star Mothers: Make cards for the troops
Berrien County Cancer Service: Decorate a jar to collect your pennies for cancer
Hospice at Home: Make goody bags for patients
Volunteer Center: Make a video about volunteering to help promote volunteering
Great Start Parent Coalition: Make ornaments out of recycled items to be donated to kids Safe Shelter, a domestic violence shelter
Salvation Army: Ring the Salvation Army Bell (this was very popular last year!)
MSU Extension 4-H Clubs: Make duffle bags/pillow cases for Polly’s Place, a local women’s shelter
Free Disney Passes Available
This event is made possible with a Minnie Grant from Disney Parks. Information will also be available at the event about Disney Parks 2010 “Give a Day Get a Day program.” You and your family may qualify to volunteer a day in 2010 and receive free Disney Passes. So bring a grandchild, nieces and nephews, your mentee, some neighborhood kids and even your own children …all are invited!
