The Los Angeles Natural History Museum hosts a Bug Fair every third weekend of May each year. The two-day Bug Fair is an insect extravaganza with hundreds of things to see and do. Governmental agencies, educational institutions, and entomological societies address questions and concerns. Private companies, large and small, display and sell thousands of items including live and preserved insect specimens.


The Bug Fair and all related events (excluding the Pavilion of Wings) were included with the regular Museum admission. The parking is a separate fee. Make sure that you carry cash to pay for the parking. Food was available near the museum and included hot dogs, chips, and hamburgers. The environment is safe despite the presence of so many insects. These insects are harmless.

The high educational value of the event makes the bug fair an event not to miss. Your kids can learn how to pin an insect for a collection, make a terrarium for a new pet or check out ongoing bug-related programming including live animal handlings and informational shows put on by the Museum talented performers.
