National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) set up in 1986 under the aegis of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India has emerged as the premier Institute of Design, Management & Technology, developing professionals for taking up leadership positions in fashion business in the emerging global scenario. The Institute is a pioneer in envisioning & evolving fashion business in the country through a network of fifteen professionally managed centres, with vision "To emerge as a centre of excellence & innovation proactively catalysing growth of fashion business through leadership in professional education with concern for social & human values".

NIFT has set academic standards & excelled in leadership role in the industry by providing a pool of creative genius & technically competent professionals. The Institute serves to provide a common platform for fashion education, research & training. The academic core facilitates integrated learning. This can also be envisaged as the entire ecosystem of the product- from vision conceptualization to product realization & its marketing- advertising. The concept thereby incorporates three streams of NIFT, namely DESIGN, TECHNOLOGY & MANAGEMENT: therefore establishing- NIFT’s brand equity in the markets…the penultimate global village.

In the context of above, the NIFT Bhubaneswar set up in July-2010 announces the celebration of Spectrum-2012 an annual student festival, to be conducted over a span of two days on 28th & 29th February 2012. This year's underlying theme for Fashion Spectrum is " 360° perspective". The rationale behind the same is that, NIFT has 360° degree well rounded view & holistic approach to the symmetry of fashion education. Exploring angles such as social responsibility, multi disciplinary approach, and the accent on research, we hope to square our shoulders to bear gracefully the burden of expectation that a premier institution like NIFT has to bear. We have done that in the past. We are putting our best foot forward this year too.
During the Spectrum-2012 students from different colleges will participate in various competitions. An artisan mela & hands-on activities on various crafts, designing & painting will be added attractions. Besides, students of NIFT will also showcase their talent in this two daylong event. Evenings will witness song, music & dance show for two days and will be winded up with a fashion show.
