February 2nd: Alabama Gives Day to Help Birmingham Regional Empowerment and Development Center
What could be an historic event is with one primary goal in mind: to help charitable organizations continue to provide a broad spectrum of aid across the state of Alabama.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) January 21, 2012 --
Birmingham – On February 2, 2012 the Alabama Association of Nonprofits, in partnership with the Alabama Broadcasters Association, is taking one day to harness the power of individual contributions statewide. Never before in our state have Alabamians had the opportunity to come together in such a unique and synergized way to support hundreds of nonprofits like ours during a dedicated day of giving.
Birmingham Regional Empowerment and Development Center (BREAD) needs your support to ensure that the citizens of our community are aware of this day of giving. Only through your support can we together make history and raise much needed funding to support numerous nonprofits located in our community! Will you please help raise awareness of Alabama Gives Day on February 2nd?
How does Alabama Gives Day work? On February 2nd, from midnight to 11:59pm, Alabamians will be driven to a dedicated online giving portal powered by Razoo at www.alabamagivesday.org where they will choose to make a gift to one or more of the hundreds of participating nonprofits.
About Us : Originally established as Bethel Community Learning Center in Pratt City, the program has experienced a tremendous array of growth. Even after losing the physical structure and majority of supplies during the April 27th tornadoes, the BREAD Center did not lose hope.
As a 21st Century Learning Center, BREAD continues to provide the children’s program STEPS – Striving To Equip and Prepare Students – seven schools in the surrounding community are collaborative partners. A strong academic base coupled with a quality character education program will yield a lifetime of success. More than 125 Pre K through Eighth grade students benefit from the after school and summer enrichment programs.
The Adult Education program, STAGES – Strengthening & Training Adults for Growth, Empowerment & Success – focal points are GED preparation; job readiness training; financial literacy and basic computers. Partnered with Lawson State Community College’s Adult Education, this coincides with the national movement to put disconnected youth on the pathways to education and work.
With your pledge of financial support, BREAD will continue to provide quality services. For information, please visit www.breadcenter.org or contact the Executive Director, Geraldine Moore via gmoore2589@aol.com.
