Federal Grant Moneys Subject to More Requirements

Santa Clara, California, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) November 30, 2011 -- A Santa Clara education technology firm, Novachi, announces today a commitment to help those districts and associated schools who were depending on round three Race to The Top funds to implement data systems in their schools. The announcement follows the recent news break indicating that California's schools and education system are in trouble once again as the Federal Government rejected California's application for the third round of Obama's Race to the Top initiative.

The news came as somewhat of a shock since California was the only state to be rejected outright, and means that $49 million dollars that California schools were counting on to institute many education reforms will be rendered unavailable. The Race to The Top (RTTT) Initiative itself has already been severely cut back, going from a grand total of $3.4 billion in available school funds, to just $200 million this year as a result of the ongoing financial crises.

Novachi offers it's dynamic and integrated SIS (Student Information System), LMS (Learning Management System), and CMS (Content Management System) for free to all California schools. The offer also extends to schools outside of California still competing for part of the Race to the Top funds.

One of California's Race to the Top Round II commitments was to build data systems to measure student growth and success in order to improve instruction. However, in light of recent news about California's round III RTTT rejection, it appears that some schools are still having difficulty implementing the required technologies. “The problem is endemic to the solution,” said a Novachi representative, “the federal government is requiring that these schools make technology reforms in order to receive grants, yet the schools need the grants to make the improvements. This is a loss for California education and a reminder that we should do more within our means such as leveraging Novachi free service to improve education.”

Novachi pledges to work directly with states and their schools to develop a system that fulfills their Race To The Top objectives, and the requirements that the federal government expects from educational data systems.
