Fellow Geordie defends Celebrity Big Brother's Denise Welch
Denise Welch survived Wednesday night's double eviction, but the Americans still resist her charms. Can Denise win Celebrity Big Brother? Fellow Geordie hopes so.

A former Byker Grove actor and Disney Presenter has defended Denise Welch’s actions in the Celebrity Big Brother house and hopes the Loose Woman can win the nation’s favour.
Stuart Hilton, 33, from Durham, met the actress, famous for her roles in Coronation Street and Waterloo Road several years ago and said: “What happened in the Big Brother house was obviously a sense of humour divide between the American Playboy bunnies and the Geordie actress. Pulling someone’s trousers down, not pants, is quite a northern joke. It has happened to me when out with friends in clubs and I have done it to friends. We all laughed.
“Everyone is picking on Denise and she is only having a laugh. She is a lovely person, so down to earth and loves people and having fun. I haven’t liked the way the twins have turned on her.
“I really like Frankie now though as he is sticking up for Denise.”
Stuart has just returned from the States where he was famed as an ‘It’ boy and male socialite and experienced first hand the differences between the two cultures. He said the Americans’ sense of humour is completely different.
Stuart said: “Americans have to look to make sure everything is A-okay before something is officially funny. It probably has to do with the USA being such a litigious society, as the Playboy twins proved by threatening to sue over pants-gate.”
Despite the sense of humour failure even amongst Brits, Stuart added that the well-established north /south divide in Britain has been significantly softened since Cheryl Cole became the nation’s sweetheart and most people have warmed to the North East accent.
Affectionately known as Cheryl in his local boozer thanks to his strong accent, Stuart is proud of his fellow Geordies, many of whom he worked with before they were famous. He has worked with Cheryl Cole when she was a glass collector and dancer, and Michelle Heaton when she was a ‘tub girl’, a bikini clad drinks server in a nightclub. The good old days.
